   Growing in Years, Growing in Faith

Dear Parents and Youth,

Below is the schedule for Growing in Years, Growing in Faith ministry which we will begin in September. Please also note the location of the meetings, as some will be held at Our Savior’s and others at Jordan. I have put the 3rd graders first because I want them to have classes as soon after they receive their Bibles as possible.

Third Grade - 4 sessions — September 14^th, 21^st, 28^th and October 5^th from 6:30-7:30 at Our Savior’s. This class is for all 3rd graders and any 4th graders that may have missed last year’s class. There will be a cost of $15.00 to help cover the cost of the student̓s Bible. They will receive their Bibles at the first class.

Fourth Grade - 1 session -- November 20^th from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Jordan. Students and parents will learn about the Advent wreath and begin home devotions during Advent.

Fifth Grade - 1 session—Communion class, September 18^th 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s. This class will also include the 2nd graders from Our Savior’s.

Sixth Grade - 4 sessions— October 12^th, 19^th, 26^th and November 2^nd from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Jordan Lutheran. We will be studying prayer, including the Lord̓s prayer and personal prayer journals will be started.

Seventh Grade - 3 sessions November 9^th, 16^th, and 30^th, from 6:30-7:30 at Our Savior’s. We will study the sacrament of Holy Baptism, followed by an Affirmation of Baptism on December 5^th in both Sunday services.

Eighth Grade - 13 sessions  January 11^th, 18^th, 21^st February 1^st, 7^th 15^th, April 11^th, 18^th, 25^th, May 2^nd,  9^th, 16^th, and 23^rd, from 6:30-7:30 at Jordan. The Old and New Testaments will be studied. During Lent they also will be keeping prayer journals to be turned in.

Ninth Grade - 7 sessions - January 8^th, 15^th, 22^nd, 29^th, Feb 5^th, 12^th, and 19^th, from 6:00 to 7:30 at Our Savior’s. The creeds and 10 commandments will be studied and discussed.

Worship Notes - The 7th and 8th Graders are to turn in Worship notes. A total of 18 are expected for each school year. Worship notes are considered an important part of the confirmation learning experience.

Acolyting - We will be including students in sixth grade along with seventh and eighth graders. Seventh and eighth graders will also be asked to assist with communion.
