Green County Pregnancy Center
Our Family Support Services Office is in need of toiletries for our Newborn Layettes. Specifically, we need toiletries for our "Mom's Gift" and baby toiletries. We are nearly out of everything for the new moms. The Newborn Layettes are the baskets of new items we give to moms for their new babies. The majority of the items in the layettes are for the babies but we try to put a little something to paper the mom in them too.
For the moms, we need things like:
- loofah sponges/shower scrunchies
- body wash
- bath oils, bath gels, or bath salts
- small candles
· anything else that pampers a new mom.
· For the babies, we need:
- Baby Shampoo
- Baby Wipes
- A & D Ointment
- Baby Bath
Donations of these items can be dropped off at the Family Support Services Office (2902 - 13th St - Monroe) Tuesday through Friday noon-3:00pm or at our downtown office (1508 - 11th St - Monroe) any time. If it is outside of our business hours, items can be left in the entryway of the downtown office.
Food Pantry Update
The Black Hawk Area Food Pantry has a new home! Located at 102 Center St., South Wayne, the pantry now has a permanent place to serve our clients. The space was donated by Powers Auction Service at no cost to the pantry. We have use of the entire first floor so there is plenty of room to store our supplies and for clients to choose their own needed items. Privacy is one of our first priorities and our new space allows us to serve families in a private way.
The food pantry is open the third Thursday of the month from 3-6pm. Local churches provide volunteers to work the food pantry on a rotating basis with May and August being the months Our Savior's works. We are designating May 12 as Food Pantry Sundays. Please bring non-perishable food items, paper products, and soap, toothpaste and brushes on those Sundays. A list of needed items is posted on the windows in the narthex. Monetary donations are also accepted. In 2018 we served 174 individual households and a total of 406 individuals. As these numbers suggest there is a present need for donations.
The Pantry also supports the Warrior Pack Program at the school which provides nourishing food for children for the weekend. That program serves 42 children a week throughout the school year.
Please consider helping us support these individuals and families! Thank you.
Clothes of Compassion
Gratiot Evangelical Free Church has asked for our help in their efforts to provide free clothing to families in need, within the Black Hawk School District. Donations of clean, gently used clothes for Men, Women, or children, in all sizes would be appreciated. If you would like to donate clothes there will be a donation bin marked “clothes of Compassion” in the coatroom at Our Savior’s. Thank you.

The family of Marjorie Mau would like to give a big thank you to the ladies aid for a great luncheon after the memorial service. Also to Pastor Perger for officiating the service and making it a heart felt memorial. Thank you to all that brought food to share with others. It was all very delicious and greatly appreciated.
Thank you to the ladies for all their hard work and dedication when it comes to times of grief for others. You all go above and beyond to help others when needed. Also to the pastor for another heart felt sermon for Lester.
Our Savior’s Quilters
We are through quilting for the months. We will be starting up again in the Fall, late September, most likely. Thanks to the ladies that help on Mondays. We couldn’t do it without you.
