Our Family Support Services Office is in need of toiletries for our Newborn Layettes. Specifically, we need toiletries for our "Mom's Gift" and baby toiletries. We are nearly out of everything for the new moms. The Newborn Layettes are the baskets of new items we give to moms for their new babies. The majority of the items in the layettes are for the babies but we try to put a little something to paper the mom in them too.
For the moms, we need things like:
- loofah sponges/shower scrunchies
- body wash
- bath oils, bath gels, or bath salts
- small candles
· anything else that pampers a new mom.
· For the babies, we need:
- Baby Shampoo
- Baby Wipes
- A & D Ointment
- Baby Bath
Donations of these items can be dropped off at the Family Support Services Office (2902 - 13th St - Monroe) Tuesday through Friday noon-3:00pm or at our downtown office (1508 - 11th St - Monroe) any time. If it is outside of our business hours, items can be left in the entryway of the downtown office.

Thanks goes to all who have donated food items to the Food Pantry so far this year. Food Pantry Sundays for the summer months will be as follows: July 14 and August 11. Please help our community by providing food and personal care items to the food pantry. There is a list on the windows in the entry way and items can be placed on or below the shelf there. In May, Our Savior's volunteers helped 17 families and 30 people with items from the pantry. Our Savior's is responsible for working the pantry in August. If you are interested in helping please contact Carol at 608-482-3708.
Clothes of Compassion
Gratiot Evangelical Free Church has asked for our help in their efforts to provide free clothing to families in need, within the Black Hawk School District. Donations of clean, gently used clothes for Men, Women, or children, in all sizes would be appreciated. If you would like to donate clothes there will be a donation bin marked “clothes of Compassion” in the coatroom at Our Savior’s. Thank you.
Mercy Mat update:
Since the beginning of March the Mercy Mat ladies have made 24 mats, 21 of which have been taken to The Beacon and Porchlight homeless shelters in Madison! There is always a need for these mats at the shelters. It takes approximately 900 plastic bags and 200 hours to construct one Mercy Mat. That's 21,600 bags and 4800 hours! Great job ladies! With summer coming the Mercy Mat group will not be meeting for the months of June, July and August but will start up again in September. Please remember to bring clean plastic bags to the church for next September. Thanks to everyone who has donated bags or helped construct the mats this year.
